This Adoption Agency answers the Phone

Posted in Birth MothersmultipleUncategorized on 22 March 2018

I cannot express how grateful I am to this agency.  When you call, you talk to the owner, Angela.  She has been doing this for 30 years.  She is an amazingly, refreshingly , honest individual.  She will answer all your questions and give you enough information to empower you to be a knowledgeable decision maker.  I am so thankful to have spoken with her as she has given me the insight that dozens of agency haven’t. “Melinda”

A Birth Mother’s Letter to her Unborn Baby

Posted in Birth Mothers on

Dear unborn baby inside me, Hi there precious one.  It’s your tummy mommy. Right now you are growing inside of my tummy and I already love you so much, more than you will ever know. When I found out that you were in my belly, I was happy because I am bringing another beautiful baby into the world. I was also sad, because I know that one day you won’t be in my tummy anymore. You will be on your way home, but it won’t be home with me. See, as your tummy mommy, it is my job to always put you first and do what’s best for you and your future. That is why I took the time while you were growing in my tummy to pick the best mommy and daddy I possibly could for you.  As you grow over the years, they will be the ones to teach you everything you will need to know on how Continue Reading

Our Baby Girl is Home!

Posted in Adopting Mothers on 17 May 2017

We recently adopted our baby girl through Adoption & Family Support Center.  They were amazing to work with!  Every staff member was supportive, kind, helpful and quick to respond.  We never had to wait for an answer to our questions…someone was always available and happy to help. Adoption can be a very stressful process and working with the Adoption & Family Support Center minimized that stress for us.  We also love the way they care for our birth mother and make sure that she has everything she needs.  They are an outstanding agency! The lawyer that was provided by the agency for finalization, Mr. Price, and his staff, were so friendly and efficient too! Thank you AFSC for helping us to match with our amazing birth mama and adopt our precious little girl. You made our dreams come true! “Donny & Barbara”

I made an Adoption Plan for my Older Children

Posted in Birth Mothers on 05 April 2017

Yes, you read that correctly.  I made an adoption plan for my older children.  After countless hours of painful searching, it was clear,  I needed to place my older children for adoption with a family that will love them as much as I do. The night after I met with my chosen mom and dad (let’s call them *Laura & John)  for dinner, I let my children sleep in my bed and decided to skip work, for me and school, for them.  When they woke up, I told my children a story.  I told them that when they were each born, our Creator placed a “mommy crown” on my head.  It was to show that I have the joy and responsibility of being their mommy.  I was also given a “daddy crown” that I kept safe in a special box.  One day, the Creator told me it was time to pass the “mommy crown”.  I searched and searched then finally found the mommy Continue Reading

New opportunities available to children involved in the Florida foster care system

Posted in Whats Up on 24 March 2017

The Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) is often criticized. They have the unenviable job of caring for Florida’s children who are at risk. These complaints range from removing too many children from their homes, to leaving children in the home when they are unsafe. They are criticized for returning children too quickly to their parents AND allowing them to languish in care. Having worked for the Department in the 1980s and 1990s, I fully understand the responsibility these dedicated men and women take on each day. One of the biggest challenges is ensuring that the rights of both the children and the parents are addressed. This is no easy task. Introducing ‘Intervention’—an advantage for children AND parents Fortunately, a new program is now available to DCF which may alleviate many of the challenges faced in achieving permanency for our children and protect parents’ rights as well. This process is called an Intervention. It is an example of community Continue Reading
