The Highlight of Our Week

Last week, our entire agency (all three of us!) were fortunate enough to have the opportunity to meet with one of our waiting adoptive families who live out of state.  We initially were introduced to this family through one of the fantastic consulting agencies that we work with, and they accepted a match without hesitation or reservation with one of our birthmoms who was very high risk due to a number of health issues.  Throughout their match, this family unfailingly demonstrated God’s love for this birthmom throughout the duration of her pregnancy—words of encouragement, support and love came so genuinely and sincerely from this family to the birth mother.  As these things sometimes happen, this birth mom had a change of heart and ultimately decided against adoption for her baby.  They say ‘when the chips are down’ you will see a person’s true character….and we all got to witness this family’s true character.  The adoptive couple asked us to tell the birth mom that they loved her, that they understood, and they told her that they would continue to pray for her and wish her happiness for her future.  The adoptive family grieved, but they did not lose their faith.  They came very quickly to the acceptance that this child was not meant to be theirs and that the child that IS meant for them is still on his or her way.  They know in their hearts that when they meet that child that is destined for them they will fully understand why they have had to go through all that has transpired.  They choose to live in happy anticipation for that moment.  Being able to meet this family and spend just a little time with them was an inspiration beyond measure to all three of us at our little adoption agency.  We are so blessed to work with clients such as this family, and we can only hope to live up to the example that they set for us every single day.
